Abstract
Rad se bavi upotrebom životinja – konja, slonova, deva, magaraca, mula, mazgi i volova – koje su korištene u jahaće, tegleće i borbene svrhe u rimskoj vojsci krajem Republike i u ranom Carstvu. U radu su prikazani zahtjevi, ali i problemi koji su stavljani pred rimsku vojsku, u pogledu uzdržavanja, obuke, upotrebe i njege potrebnih životinja te načini njihova rješavanja. Na kraju rada daje se analiza korištenih životinja sa stajališta logističkih i tehničkih kapaciteta rimske vojske.
Abstract (english)
The topic of this thesis is the use of animals – horses, elephants, camels, donkeys, mules, oxen – for riding, haulding and fighting by the roman army in the end of the Republic and in the early Empire. The thesis shows the demands, but also the problems the roman army had to face – the maintenance, training and caring for the animals, and the ways to overcome those obstacles. The conclusion of the thesis provides the analysis of used animals from the standpoint of logistic and tehnical capacities of the roman army.
