Abstract (english) Background: The desire to reduce the pain caused by surgery dates back to antiquity. Back then, various herbs were still being experimented with to relieve pain, but now there are various techniques to reduce pain during and after surgery. One of the techniques is local infiltration anesthesia.
Aim: The aim of this study was to determine the effect of general anesthesia and local infiltration anesthesia on the occurrence of pain after surgery
Methods: In this retrospective study, 100 operative lists of patients were included. 50 lists of patients operated on under general anesthesia and 50 lists of patients operated on un-der general infiltration anesthesia were taken. The data taken from the operating lists are as follows: date of admission to the institution, personal data of the patient (initials of the name and surname), sex of the patient, data on smoking, ASA score, body height and weight, VAS 1, 3,6,9, pulse, type of anesthesia, duration of surgery, type and amount of analgesics received by the patient, saturation and discharge home.
Results: Operated patients in day surgery are mostly ASA score I. General anesthesia in combination with local infiltration anesthesia is used in operations that will take longer and in patients who are slightly less overweight. Patients operated on under local infiltration a-nesthesia reported less pain in all VAS measurements and therefore consumed less analgesics.
Conclusion: The study found a difference in the intensity and occurrence of pain after surgery in the observed groups. The group operated on under general anesthesia with local infiltration anesthesia felt less pain after surgery in all observed periods.
