Abstract
Istraživački rad „Neverbalni aspekti političke komunikacije Donalda Trumpa“ ima za cilj analizirati neverbalne komunikacijske strategije koje je koristio bivši američki predsjednik Donald Trump tijekom svog predsjedničkog mandata, obuhvaćajući četiri javna politička govora i jedan intervju u razdoblju od pet godina. U radu se pojmovno određuje neverbalna komunikacija, predstavlja se razvoj kroz povijest, prikazuje se klasifikacija te kakva je neverbalna komunikacija u javnim nastupima. Dodatno, rad prikazuje neverbalnu komunikaciju unutar političke komunikacije, prikazujući njenu relevantnost u politici. Temeljne hipoteze ovog rada se odnose na agresivnu neverbalnu komunikaciju Donalda Trumpa, njegovog naglaska na geste i facijalne ekspresije te tvrdnje kako je njegova neverbalna komunikacija dominantna i naučena. Analiza se temelji na metodi promatranja primijenjenoj na pet video snimaka Trumpovih javnih nastupa. Rezultati istraživanja pokazuju dosljedan obrazac gestikulacije i facijalnih ekspresija koje je Trump koristio kako bi naglasio ključne točke u svojim javnim nastupima. Unatoč povremenim znakovima agresivnosti, oni ne dominiraju dosljedno njegovom neverbalnom komunikacijom te u usporedbi Trumpove najave kandidature s govorom u UN-u, koji se dogodio nekoliko godina nakon, lako je usporediti da je s vremenom vještije vladao svojom neverbalnom komunikacijom. Također, Trump ima određene elemente dominantne neverbalne komunikacije, ali ti elementi u ovom uzorku nisu bili primarni.
Abstract (english)
The research paper "Nonverbal Aspects of Donald Trump's Political Communication" aims to analyze the nonverbal communication strategies used by former US President Donald Trump during his presidency, covering four public political speeches and one interview over a period of five years. The paper conceptually defines non-verbal communication, presents its development through history, shows its classification and what non-verbal communication is like in public performances. Additionally, the paper shows non-verbal communication within political communication, showing its relevance in politics. The basic hypotheses of this paper refer to Donald Trump's aggressive non-verbal communication, his emphasis on gestures and facial expressions, and the claim that his non-verbal communication is dominant and learned. The analysis is based on an observational method applied to five videos of Trump's public appearances. The research results show a consistent pattern of gestures and facial expressions that Trump used to emphasize key points in his public appearances. Despite occasional signs of aggressiveness, they do not consistently dominate his non-verbal communication, and comparing Trump's candidacy announcement with the speech at the UN, which took place a few years later, it is easy to compare that he has mastered his non-verbal communication more skillfully over time. Also, Trump has certain elements of dominant non-verbal communication, but these elements were not primary in this sample.
