Breast reconstruction using implant is associated with high frequency of postoperative pain which require special attention and the application of appropriate treatment methods. This prospective cohort study was conducted by a questionnaire filled by patients undergoing Breast reconstruction with implant at the Clinical Hospital Centre Zagreb and the Clinic for Tumors at the Sestre milosrdnice University Hospital Center. For the purposes of research, a questionnaire was created consisting of an introductory part and a numerical scale for the assessment of pain. A total of 50 patients with a medical indication for Breast reconstruction with implant participated in the study. The aims of this study are: to determine the pain intensity of the first postoperative day, the 10th postoperative day and the pain intensity 6 months after the Breast reconstruction with implant, to determine the relationship between the pain and the age of the patient and to determine the impact of implant size on postoperative pain. The results of this study show that the pain after Breast reconstruction with implant reduces, which means that the pain is the most severe first postoperative day, it reduces 10th postoperative day and it is lowest 6 months after surgery. The results also showed that age and the size of implant not affect the strength of postoperative pain. Since research has shown that patients experience significant pain after this procedure and in some women the pain lasts for a long period ot time after surgery, more attention needs to be devoted to it's future research, psychological support has to be provided and analgesic therapy when needed.
