Abstract (english) Backgorund: Postoperative nausea and vomiting are complications that occur in day surgery. It is important to use anesthesia that will reduce the frequency of relapse to prevention measures and therapeutic procedures. If antiemetic protection is used the frequency is 30%. Despite modernization, this side effect is still very common. When gripping the carrier and the chest, it is important to choose anesthesia suitable for the patient, to reduce the risks to a minimum.
Aim: The aim is to investigate the frequency of nausea and vomiting after general anesthesia in maxillofacial and plastic surgery, and to investigate the possibility of prevention and treatment before discharge from the clinic Bagatin.
Methods: A total of 100 patients from the Bagatin polyclinic were included in this retrospective study. The questionnaire included age, sex, kg, tv, smoking, types of surgeries, ASA classification, anamnestic history of return, longitudinal surgeries, prophylactic antiemetic, and postoperative relapse.
Results: The study showed that there was a statistically significant difference in body weight and height and postoperative vomiting. The data show that there is a statistically significant difference in the frequency of postoperative vomiting with respect to the type of surgery and the analgesics applied. Postoperative vomiting occurs in as many as 54.5% of patients, and is more common in rhinoplasty (72%) and long operations (P <0.05)
Conclusion: With new applications of non-invasive surgical methods and modern
anesthetics, this unpleasant side effect of anesthesia has not been fully exploited. If
antiemetic prophylaxis is not used, the incidence of PONV can increase by up to 80%.
PONV occurs in significant numbers, even in 54.5% of patients, and it occurs more often
in rhinoplasty (72%) and long operations.
