Abstract
Poslijeporođajni stres definira se kao neugodno emocionalno stanje izazvano stresorima koje se javlja u razdoblju nakon porođaja, a njegova prevalencija i dalje je nepoznata. Dosadašnja istraživanja pokazuju kako i do 30% majki izvješćuje o emocionalnim poteškoćama u ovom razdoblju, među kojima je i stres. Ipak, poslijeporođajni stres često je zanemaren u istraživanjima mentalnog zdravlja majki zbog čega su dosadašnji rezultati uvelike bili dvoznačni. Uz to, istraživanja pokazuju kako više razine stresa ne nestaju s prolaskom vremena, već se nastavljaju kroz cijelu prvu godinu nakon porođaja. S obzirom na navedeno, cilj ovog istraživanja bio je ispitati učestalost poslijeporođajnog stresa kod majki i prediktivni doprinos sociodemografskih i opstetričkih varijabli te socijalne podrške u vezi sa percipiranim poslijeporođajnim stresom. U online istraživanju sudjelovale su majke koje su rodile unutar 6-12 tjedana (N = 199). Sudionice su ispunjavale Skalu depresije, anksioznosti i stresa, Skalu majčinskog stresa nakon porođaja, Revidiranu skalu zadovoljstva porođajem, Ljestvicu percipirane podrške partnera i Skalu procjene socijalne podrške. Majke su izvijestile o višim razinama specifičnog poslijeporođajnog nego općeg stresa, a najvažnijim prediktorima poslijeporođajnog stresa pokazali su se niža dob majke, iskustvo planiranog carskog reza, mješovita ishrana djeteta (kombinacijom dojenja, izdajanja i davanja dojenačkog pripravka) te manja podrška partnera. Ovaj rad pruža smjernice za identifikaciju čimbenika koji pridonose pojavi poslijeporođajnog stresa te daje smjernice za buduće intervencije u prevenciji i smanjenju poslijeporođajnog stresa kako bi se osigurala lakša prilagodba majke na roditeljstvo i bolji razvoj djeteta.
Abstract (english)
Postpartum stress is defined as an unpleasant emotional state caused by postpartum stressors that occur during the postpartum period,but its prevalence remains unknown. Previous research has shown that up to 30% of mothers report emotional difficulties during this period, including stress. However, postpartum stress is often overlooked in maternal mental health research, leading to ambiguous results. Moreover, research indicates that higher levels of stress do not diminish over time but continue throughout the entire first year after childbirth. Therefore, the aim of this study was to examine the frequency of postpartum stress in mothers and the predictive contribution of sociodemographic and obstetric variables, as well as social support, related to perceived postpartum stress. Mothers who gave birth within 6-12 weeks participated in an online survey (N = 199). Participants completed the Depression, Anxiety, and Stress Scales,the Maternal Postpartum Stress Scale, the Birth Satisfaction Scale–Revised, the Perceived Partner Support Scale, and the Social Support Appraisals Scale. Mothers reported higher levels of postpartum-specific stress compared to general stress, and the most significant predictors of postpartum stress were the mother's younger age, experience of planned cesarean section, the use of different infant feeding methods, and lower partner support. This study provides insights into identifying factors contributing to the occurrence of postpartum stress and offers guidance for future interventions in preventing and reducing postpartum stress,thereby ensuring smoother maternal adjustment to parenthood and better child development.
