Abstract Uvod: Migrena kao čest poremećaj iscrpljujuće prirode zahvaća oko 10% globalne populacije.
Abstract (english) Introduction: Migraine as a common debilitating disorder affects about 10% of the global population. It is accompanied by headaches of medium to strong intensity that occur unilaterally, i.e. on one hemisphere of the head. Migraine pain is described as piercing and pulsating, and the intensity increases with the patient's activities. In addition to characteristic headaches, migraine can be accompanied by many other symptoms and signs such as nausea, vomiting, sensitivity to light, sensitivity to sounds, dizziness and others. Migraine is actually a common disorder in the general population as it is estimated that 1.04 billion people suffer from some form of migraine and related disorders. It most often affects young working-age people, that is, the age group from 25 to 55 years of age. This has a significant impact on the productivity of the mentioned population. Migraine has a significant impact on the patient's quality of life, it can have a similar but even worse impact on the patient's life compared to other chronic diseases.
Objective: The main objective of this research work was to examine the quality of life of patients with migraine and to compare the results with the results of healthy subjects, i.e. those without migraine.
Methods: The research was conducted in two parts. The first part referred to patients with migraine from the headache clinic at the Dubrava Clinical Hospital. The patients were contacted by phone by the examiner and instructed to fill out a survey via a Google internet form if they were willing to participate in the research. The second part of the study referred to respondents without migraine. A survey made in Google Internet forms was posted on the Facebook group "Survey - share your survey". A group on a social network was chosen precisely to collect data from the general population. The SF-36 questionnaire was chosen to measure the quality of life.
Results: A total of 278 respondents participated in the research. Of which 87 respondents belonged to the migraine group. The SF-36 questionnaire consists of 8 question categories. Only in the category of physical functioning is there no statistically significant difference between the group of respondents with migraine and those without migraine. In the remaining 7 categories, there is a statistically significant difference between the groups, which means that respondents with migraine rate their quality of life as worse compared to those without migraine. In the second part of the study, the results were compared between groups of subjects with migraine
on acute and prophylactic therapy. No statistically significant difference was obtained in this comparison.
Conclusion: As in many researches that deal with the quality of life of migraine patients, in this research we have reached similar conclusions that confirm the disabling effect of migraine headache on the patient. Migraine has an impact on the daily life of patients and their daily functioning, which significantly negatively affects the quality of life. In addition to leaving consequences for physical and psychological difficulties, migraine has an impact on the patient's social functioning and social life. In addition to timely intervention and visits to the doctor and proper adherence to the prescribed therapy, it is necessary to educate the patient about the disease. In this way, patients can lead a healthy life and avoid potential migraine triggers. In addition, it is necessary to provide patients with mental health care in order to avoid further damage to the already impaired quality of life.
