Embodiment is apparently a new approach which points out a close connection between sensory and motor system with cognition, and as its main idea promotes understanding of cognitive representations as fundamentally founded in the physical context. Therefore, this work focuses on embodied perception in the field of dancing as a specific domain of physical activity. The aim of this research was to examine the impact of the difficulty of the task and awareness of the own body on the perception of time and difficulty of the dance movement in dancers and nondancers experience of dancing. A total of 87 participants at the age of 23.48 (SD= 4.12) participated in this research, of which 43 were dancers and 44 nondancers. The task for participants was to estimate duration and difficulty of dance movement while keeping specific body position which regulates the difficulty of the task, with body awareness or absence of body awareness. The results showed the effect of the difficulty of the task on the perception of duration and difficulty of the dance movement. Dance movements were seen as more difficult and longer while holding the dancing position than holding the sitting position. Both dancers and nondancers were equally evaluating duration and difficulty in all body positions which indicates a lack of expertise. Moreover, the perception of duration and difficulty of dance movement didn't depend on body awareness. However, the dependence of the effect of the difficulty of the task on the perception of the difficulty of dance movements was shown, where the effect of difficulty was more expressed in condition of body awareness when the dance movements were estimated as more difficult. The effects of embodiment were discussed.
