Total hip endoprosthesis removes functional and aesthetic disability which is created by degenerative hip disease. Implantation of total hip endoprotheses is one of the most common and the most successful operations. Total hip endoprosthesis is usually done in older age (around 60 or older). After the operation patients have to be educated on how to live after the procedure. While working with patients in Special hospital for medical rehabilitation Daruvar spa, older patients have shown a great cooperation with the medical staff in order to recover from total hip endoprosthesis. Sports injuries are most common among professional athletes or active athletes. The most common sports injury is the rupture of anterior cruciate ligament after witch the surgical procedure is necessary. Sports injuries are more common among younger population (up to 40 years old) who have difficulties accepting that their normal active way of life and doing sports have to change and that they will depend on some medical aids. This effects on their motivation and they can become frustrated which effects on the whole rehabilitation. Both older and younger population come to Special hospital for medical rehabilitation Daruvar spa, older ones after total hip endoprosthesis and younger ones after sports injury, the rupture of anterior cruciate ligament. Medical approach to the patient, education and physiotherapy are different, but the outcome has to be the same, the successful one. Because of that medical staff of Daruvar spa approaches everyone individually, creates positive atmosphere and encourages the patients to stay motivated during the whole rehabilitation. The aim of this research is to find out if there is a difference in tolerance to pain and psychological readiness for a rehabilitation and cooperation between older patients with total hip endoprosthesis and younger ones with rupture of anterior cruciate ligament. In this research structured questionnaire was used among patients with total hip endoprosthesis and among patients who had some sports injury (rupture of anterior cruciate ligament was the most common one) at Special hospital for medical rehabilitation Daruvar spa. 200 respondents took part in this research, 100 respondents with total hip endoprosthesis and 100 respondents with sports injuries, the rupture of anterior cruciate ligament. Results of this research have shown that there is a statistically significant difference between two groups in variables that concern treatment and rehabilitation and in the comparison of respondents with offered statements in which they express their opinion and attitude. This confirmed the paper’s hypothesis which is that older people are psychologically more ready for cooperation, that they have more faith in themselves and in their recovery than the younger people. This data can be taken into account also because older people approach to problems more seriously than the younger people.
